Welcome to my official athlete support page!

After having a successful indoor handball career in Germany’s top league that has led me to represent and captain Australia all over the globe, I’ve now taken off my shoes to run on sand!

Following 2 years of preparation, I’ve been selected to represent Australia, for the 11th IHF World Beach Handball Championships, which will be held from the 18th to the 23rd of June 2024 in Pingtan, China.

Handball is a completely self-funded sport in Australia, this means that to represent Australia at international competitions, players needs to cover their own costs.

These expenses range from regular training, recovery & rehabilitation costs, flights to training camps, accommodation, uniforms, transfers, and covering the costs of the Australian team’s support staff & management.

I would be grateful for any support that you could offer in assisting me with covering the portion of the costs involved in my preparation and participation in international events such as this year world championships in China.

Your contribution will help sustain my passion and represent our country on the global stage.

MY JOURNEY HERE

My sporting journey began on the basketball courts of Australia, where I proudly played for state teams and the Australian under-23 national team, later turning pro with the Sydney Uni Flames. At 21, craving new challenges after 4 years playing WNBL, I switched to handball and moved to Germany, playing top league handball professionally for BVB Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen 04, even captaining these amazing teams.

I’ve proudly worn the green and gold at numerous Women’s World Championships, starting with my debut in France in 2007, and have cherished every moment of representing our country, earning multiple MVP and top scorer honors along the way.

After a fulfilling player career and retiring from professional Handball on a high note at the 2019 World Championships in Japan, I moved back to Australia and took a break from elite sports.

But the love for the game brought me back in 2022 —this time to the sands of beach handball.

Now, I’m channeling all my passion and experience into representing Australia on the international beach handball stage, aiming to make as big an impact on the sand as I did on the court.

I hope you’ll join me on this exciting new chapter of my athletic journey. Your support means the world to me and every bit helps us represent Australia with pride on the global stage!

What is beach handball?

Beach handball involves two teams competing to score by passing and throwing a ball into the opponent’s goal on a sandy court. Unlike traditional handball, the sand significantly reduces the ball’s bounce, eliminating almost all dribbling.

The game consists of either two or three sets, with a team winning the match upon securing their second set victory. In the event of a tie at the end of a set, the game advances to a golden goal situation, where the first team to score wins the set. A tied score after two sets leads to a deciding tiebreaker set. This involves the goalkeeper throwing the ball to a teammate who then faces off against the opposing goalkeeper in a one-on-one attempt to score.

Scoring rules add strategic depth: goals made by goalkeepers are valued at two points, encouraging bold plays. Likewise, two points are awarded for goals deemed exceptionally creative or skillful, such as 360-degree jumps, alley-oops, in-flights, and shots from 6 meters, incentivising spectacular plays.
